Belgium is close to the crossing, so the drive in is short and direct. We choose the option that fits your move.

Eurotunnel (Folkestone → Calais)

The quickest crossing — drive on, drive off — then the direct motorway run into Belgium.

Dover → Calais (ferry)

A frequent, flexible sea crossing that suits many loads and schedules; the same onward drive from Calais.

Dover → Dunkirk (ferry)

Lands slightly closer to the Belgian border, a useful option depending on the load and timing.

Customs since Brexit

Importing a household into Belgium.

Since Brexit, moving your belongings from the UK into Belgium is treated as an import, so it needs a customs declaration on both sides. We prepare the UK export declaration before the vehicle leaves and the Belgian import side for arrival, along with the documentation to bring a household into the country.

Where you’re making a genuine move of residence, a transfer-of-residence relief can apply, which relieves the import duties and VAT on your used household goods. We file the customs side against your Belgian registration; you provide the supporting documents — typically a detailed inventory, your ID, and proof of your move and Belgian address. The exact requirements depend on your circumstances, and we tell you what’s needed for your move.

To be clear about the line: we handle the customs and transport, not immigration or residency applications — those you complete on the Belgian side (registering with your local commune, and so on). Can I send just a part-load rather than a full house?
Yes — part-loads are common on the UK-to-Belgium route, especially for a flat, a first posting, or a few rooms. Your goods travel consolidated with other Belgium-bound moves on the same run, which keeps a smaller move sensible. We set the arrangement out clearly in the quote.
